Plain Abdominal X-Ray: the gas pattern and the abdominal pathology
DOI:
https://doi.org/10.53903/01212095.201Abstract
Plain abdominal radiography is a tool available in almost any health institution. Medical professionals have difficulties in its interpretation which, in addition to its inherent limitations, casts doubt on the usefulness of this imaging method. Since its main emergency indication is abdominal pain with suspected intestinal obstruction, it is imperative to approach its analysis in an orderly manner, putting into practice previous knowledge of abdominal anatomy, technical requirements for adequate image acquisition, analysis of intra-abdominal gaseous pattern, solid organs, calcifications, foreign bodies and medical devices.
