Abstract

Obstruction in the colon is much less frequent than in the small intestine.. Among its various causes, the most common are malignant neoplasms, volvulus, and diverticulitis. In contrast, bezoars are rarely responsible. CT imaging is the reference method for evaluating intestinal obstruction due to its high sensitivity and specificity, allowing for the determination of the location, cause, and
presence of complications. We present a unique case not previously reported in the literature of an acute abdomen in a 56-yearold man, without psychiatric history, who showed characteristic CT findings of a trichobezoar
lodged in an area of acute diverticulitis, leading to intestinal obstruction. This case concluded with the resection of the affected segment and extraction of the intraluminal mass. Subsequently, the findings were confirmed by histopathology.
